No magic stick for Bucs: Micho

High-flying Celtic to offer stern test

- By Gomolemo Motshwane

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic feels there is no need for his team to go into panic mode after their faltering start to the season.

The Buccaneers were dumped out of the MTN8 by SuperSport United and suffered their first loss of the season in the league, at home to Bidvest Wits in midweek, thanks to a Gladwin Shitolo own goal.

In a season where they will be looking to “heal the soul” of the Bucs faithful, Pirates have had a less than convincing start.

The Serbian-born mentor insists that the puzzle is coming together at the Soweto club.

“In football, there are two types of crisis; there is crisis of performance and crisis of results,” Sredojevic said.

“When you have crisis of results and performance, then it’s [a] disaster. We had the misfortune of accidentally losing.

“We believe we will soon have the complete product; at the moment we have half a product because we dominate. “In building the house, you cannot put the foundation then the first floor, then the roof. There is no magic stick.”

Pirates will next take on Steve Komphela’s high-flying Bloemfontein Celtic at the Free State Stadium on Sunday (3pm).

Celtic have had a surprisingly bright start with two wins despite their financial troubles. The club remains up for sale.

Sredojevic is wary of the resurgent Phunya Sele Sele on their home turf.

“I have the highest level of respect for Steve, who has resurrected Celtic. We will play in a good environment with a team that will look to continue with their good results. We will look to continue to perform in the same way but be more effective in front of goal.”
