Myeni not giving up on his career

Winger livid he’s been left out of class

Bidvest Wits winger Sifiso Myeni admits he’s disappointed that the Clever Boys did not register him for this season, disclosing that the Students’ coach Gavin Hunt did not communicate with him about his exclusion.

It’s believed that Myeni, 30, still has one-year left on his Wits contract. He rejoined the university club from Orlando Pirates in August 2016.

While he does not hide his dismay at how his situation has panned out, Myeni accepts that he must move on.

“Yes, it’s true [that I’m not registered for this season]. I am a bit disappointed but there’s nothing I can do because it’s part of football. It was Wits’ call at the end of the day and they know why.

“I have not spoken to coach Hunt [about why he opted to leave me out of the team for this season]. I was told nothing and I am in the dark but I know that I must move on. All I have to do now is to remain positive-minded,” he said.

Myeni believes one of the reasons for his axing may have to do with new arrivals at the team. The lad from Soweto has promised that this is not the end of him in football. He said he’s training on his own while his agent Mike Makaab tries to get him a new team.

“I can only assume that it is because the coach wants to rebuild the team. When you check you can see that it’s only Thulani Hlatshwayo, Buhle Mkhwanazi, Darren Keet and Thabang Monare who are still there from the league titlewinning squad,” said Myeni.

“I have been training on my own. This is not the end of Sifiso Myeni. My agent is trying to get me a club. I know what I can do on the field and I do not doubt my capabilities.”
