“He has not only destroyed this family, but he took away two loving mothers from their children.”

These were the words of one of the relatives of a woman who was shot and killed together with her mother, allegedly by her ex-lover.

The relative was speaking at Motlalepule and Lenah Motsatsing’s funeral in Lonely Park, Mahikeng, North West on Saturday.

Motlalepule’s boyfriend allegedly shot and killed the two when he could not accept that their relationship had ended.

Motlalepule and her ex-lover had two daughters. One of them, who is two years old, was caught in the crossfire.

Motlalepule’s brother also sustained bullet wounds last week Tuesday.

Motlalepule’s aunt Setshego Moeng said they were still trying to pick up the pieces.

“It will take us some time to forget. We are now helpless and with no words to respond to the questions that these children will be asking us in future,” she said.

She said the boyfriend’s family had not visited them to apologise.

“They have two young children with our daughter. We do not know if they like what their son has done or whether they feel sorry,” she said.

Motlalepule’s uncle William Sesinyi said he was happy that the suspect had been arrested. “He will face the might of the law. We did not like what had happened,” he said.

Sesinyi said the law must take its course. “We hope the justice system will not fail us. Having him locked up in jail is the only thing that will make us move on with our lives as we will never forget,” he said.
