The wife of Struggle hero Puso Tladi, who was the adviser of former minister of defence Joe Modise, has passed on.
Joyce Tladi, who recently suffered a stroke, died on Wednesday last week.
She never stopped asking questions on the whereabouts of her husband, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances on August 8 2003.
An activist in her own right, Tladi, who hailed from Dube, Soweto, would have turned 60 yesterday.
She attended Moetapele Primary School in Dube and proceeded to do her senior certificate at Orlando North High, also in Soweto.
Following the instability that followed the June 16 1976 youth uprising, Tladi fled to Botswana and spent over 14 years in the US, where she furthered her studies and obtained a BSc in biology.
It was during her time in exile that she met her husband and they tied the knot when she returned to SA in 1990.
“She recently suddenly fell ill and medical experts confirmed that it was a stroke.
“As the family started thinking that she was on a path to recovery, she passed on,” said Phaladi Tshole, Tladi’s youngest brother.
“She was also part of the MKMVA (Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association).”
Tshole said though his sister had worked in the private sector, she had also dedicated her life working for the ANC and serving communities.
Tladi is survived by four children and three grandchildren.
