Suspects have been on the run two months since incident

Three men appeared in the Durban magistrate’s court yesterday in connection with the death of Durban businessman Kidesh Ramjettan.

The men were arrested on Tuesday in Gauteng‚ two months after the 37-yearold father of one was gunned down in an apparent hit at his petrol station in Rossburgh‚ south of Durban.

“The suspects were arrested in the Gauteng province by the KwaZulu-Natal provincial task team and the firearm believed to have been used during the shooting was also recovered‚” said KZN police spokesman Lt-Col Thulani Zwane.

Chilling CCTV footage of the murder made the rounds on social media.

The footage showed a man walking up to Ramjettan – who was speaking to a friend in a car parked in the yard of the petrol station – and shooting him in the head before fleeing the scene.

After almost two months without any leads on the case‚ the family offered a R50 000 reward‚ then a R300 000 reward‚ for any information that would lead to the arrest of those involved.

“As a family we are very relieved and thankful to the police and media that there is finally progress on this case‚” said Ramjettan’s brother Anesh.

Anesh said no one had come forward to claim the reward and that he believed that it was police work that led to the arrest.

They were remanded in custody until October 25 for a formal bail application.
