Socialite cuts a sorry sight as she misses red carpet
Controversial socialite Skolopad’s latest antic to gatecrash the second annual DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards on Saturday night almost backfired in her face.
After rocking up uninvited with two friends, she was denied access to the starstudded red carpet and the main show. Sowetan understands that Skolopad was stranded outside for almost an hour and by the time she was granted access she had missed the red carpet. Skolopad, who recently sustained serious injuries to her legs and face after a car accident, had one crutch to assist her to walk.
She told Sowetan that since she lost her car in the accident, she had to hitchhike from Qwa Qwa, in Free State, to the awards venue in Joburg. Although she was covered up, Skolopad said she was cold.
Her halter peplum gown had real green grapes on the neckline, hanging like they were on the vine. Skolopad was seen feasting on them as she waited in what looked like stress-eating.
She kept asking after comedian Skhumba, saying he was the only one who could get her in. Although Skhumba won favourite comedian, he didn’t attend. She also begged members of the media and other celebrities such as Rami Chuene to help her as they went past her into the venue.
“I’m getting cold outside. I’m still not well, they have denied me access. I’m eating grapes so I don’t faint like last time,” Skolopad said. “Please tell them inside to give me a ticket. Organise something for me and my two friends. My friend went to the car to fetch a blanket for me, I’m really cold.”
Sowetan later spotted Skolopad at the after-party where she was bizarrely asking VIP guests to give her a back rub since her back was sore.
“They let me in,” she said excitedly.
