What to do The Nutcracker Winter Circus comes to town
Sandton City presents a world-first in the whimsical theatrical adventure of The Nutcracker’s Winter Circus.
This is the first time that
The Nutcracker has been translated into a theatrical circus.
The fun fairy-tale features fantastical creatures fit for the family.
It is set in a spectacular circus tent in the Centre Court. Enchanting children and adults alike with an ensemble of acclaimed artists in an original theatrical circus.
It features a rich tapestry of magic and interactive illusion.
Celebrated for his originality and cutting-edge creativity, The Nutcracker’s Winter Circus is the brainchild of South African director and designer Andrew Botha.
The Nutcracker’s Winter Circus is on from December 12 to January 6 with four performances per day, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Tickets are available from Ticketpro for R15 and at the door for R20. All proceeds go to charity.
Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 on DStv
If you failed to secure tickets to the music concert on everybody’s lips, make an appointment with your small screen. The Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 will be broadcast live on DStv channel 100 on Sunday.
The festival is in honour of Nelson Mandela and features a stellar line-up of musicians and personalities from around the world such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Oprah Winfrey and Naomi Campbell
The channel will have exclusive behind-the-scenes content, with the red carpet kicking off from midday to 2pm and the concert from 2pm.
There will be documentaries honouring Madiba leading up to the concert.
Conhill historical treasures
To commemorate December 5, the day Nelson Mandela was incarcerated at the Fort, Constitution Hill launches an experiential permanent exhibition that reveals the intricate history behind the walls of the Old Fort.
The exhibition will walk visitors through a real day in the life of prisoners and wardens who long ago walked through the corridors of the complex.
Also exhibited are the latest in display technology and holograms.
Constitution Hill opens between 9am to 5pm.
Joyous Celebration in Cape Town
The award-winning gospel ensemble sweeps into the Mother City to record its 23rd live DVD.
The recording is scheduled from December 13 to 15 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Mahika Mahikeng Cultural Music Festival
The four-day entertainment and arts programme boasts various music, arts and cultural events held in Mahikeng.
The fourth edition of the annual event is headlined by US R&B and soul star Anthony Hamilton.
The gospel show takes place at the Mmabatho Convention Centre on December 6, with performances from the likes of Lebo Sekgobela, Dr Tumi, Mahikeng YMD Choir and Benjamin Dube.
Maftown Heights returns to the festival for the second year. Motswako artists such as Khuli Chana will perform a tribute to the late HHP.
Comedy night on December 8 will feature local and national comedians such as King Flat, Mashabela, Summary, Tshekedi Monyemore, and Tumi Stopnonsons.
The celebrations reach a crescendo on December 9 with the jazz festival featuring more than 40 international, national and local artists like Anthony Hamilton, Shekinah, Sho Madjozi, Sands, Amanda Black, Brenda Mtambo, Mlindo The Vocalist, Zahara, Kelly Khumalo, Lady Zamar, Black Motion, Selaelo Selota, Sereetsi and the Natives (Botswana), Kabelo Buga Luv, Samantha Mogwe (Botswana).
Mahika Mahikeng Cultural Music Festival is between December 6 and 9.
