Chiefs could pile pressure on Larsen

Arrows’ home record could see them fall

- By Tiyani wa ka Mabasa

The PSL’s third longest-serving Coach Clinton Larsen will be in the spotlight again when they host Kaizer Chiefs at Princess Magogo Stadium tomorrow (6pm).

This is the same venue where Abafana Bes’thende beat Amakhosi 3-1 towards the end of last season on their way to finishing in eighth place.

However, now Arrows have gone four matches without a win in all competitions since they beat Black Leopards 1-0 at home last month.

Under Larsen, who joined them in December 2015, Arrows have had some good and bad runs, but Larsen has managed to hold on to his job.

The former Manning Rangers midfielder is the League’s longest-serving mentor behind Mamelodi Sundowns’s Pitso Mosimane, who’s been at the helm since December 2012, and Gavin Hunt of Bidvest Wits, who remains in charge since June 2013.

Going into this match Arrows have 12 points from 12 games, and lie 11th on the PSL standings.

For the KwaZulu-Natal side to turn things around, they will have to improve some aspects of their game as reflected by their statistics.

Arrows are the league’s weakest side at home. They have five points from six matches, which is the same return as Maritzburg United.

Maritzburg, however, have conceded four at home compared to Arrows’s six.

In the overall standings, Arrows don’t score many goals and have the fourth worst attack with eight goals ahead of only Maritzburg (4), Chippa (6) and Baroka (7).

Chiefs, meanwhile, will be looking for revenge to overturn last season’s scoreline and a haul of three points.

- This season, they also went eight games without a win from August to October (four defeats and four draws).
