Draws cause for concern for Micho
Coach complains of home points lost
Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic doesn’t hide his dissatisfaction about their developing trend of drawing at home, demanding that the Buccaneers turn Orlando Stadium into a slaughter house. Pirates’ goalless stalemate against Maritzburg United at the weekend was their fourth league draw of the season in their backyard. Highlands Park, Cape Town City and Golden Arrows are other teams to have escaped with a point at Pirates. “When it happens for the first time, you tell it’s an accident... second time coincidence but this is our fourth draw at home,” he said. “We need to be self-critical, we need to look at ourselves deep inside,” a disappointed Sredojevic said.
“Those are eight points dropped... in each match two out of four. This is something [that] we need to put a mirror in front of ourselves for “We look to put Orlando Stadium as a fortress, where it’s hard to come and survive, not being beaten. Where’s the problem and why couldn’t we convert what we are creating?” Sredojevic has once again refused to blame the club’s “finishing specialist” Stephen Adams for their constant home failures. “Stephen Adams is a great human being before being a top coach in the aspect of finishing. We are seeing so much improvement individually and as a team.
It’s still mission far from being accomplished but I am satisfied,” noted Sredojevic. “Yes in the last few matches we had against Sundowns and today [against Maritzburg on Saturday] it was 0-0, we fired blanks in a way, but in all other matches we’ve shown good signs of wanting and scoring goals.” Pirates’ next encounter is the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round away to Seychelles outfit Light Stars on Wednesday. Bucs ran riot in the first leg, winning 5-1. Three days later, the Soweto heavyweights take on Baroka in the Telkom Knockout final at the Nelson Mandela Bay. We wanted to us this match as a preparation [for CAF game].
