Silver cup broken: here’s a tv show for it
Break up platform within reach
Actress Lerato Mvelase says she is nervous about how viewers will receive her reality TV show about break-ups and heartbreak, Seng’Khathele.
The show, which would be presented by Mvelase, will premiere on Mzansi Wethu on January 5. Mvelase said yesterday it had been an emotional journey as she had already started filming.
“I want people to understand that when they are in a relationship there is never a need to stay with someone who cannot reciprocate the love, respect, kindness and integrity of what a relationship is about,” she explained. “I have learned so much about me on the show, that to attract such a show there is an energy of maturity that I have shown, and some people know of my relationship… there is just an energy of solution even though I’m not a therapist. “From the episodes we have shot, it’s an extremely emotional show, because when people break-up it’s a painful experience. Then you hear the reason behind the break-up – the abuse.” With reasons ranging from infidelity to financial problems and even challenges in the bedroom, the 13-episode show will see couples who are seeking closure unpack all the reasons behind the break-up. “We have covered all angles of love, all angles except when love runs its course,” said executive producer Tebogo Keebine of Tribal Media House. “The idea for the show was to flip the coin and give courage to people who do not know how to say goodbye to something they once recognised as love.” Post-counselling and therapy will be offered to couples featured on the show. “Love is universal, and so is heartbreak. While we celebrate love and its complexities with popular shows like Our
Perfect Wedding and Marry Me Now, it’s only fitting to also explore the intricacies of break-ups and what it means to finally say ‘it’s over’, while giving each side the chance to tell their story,” director of local entertainment channels at M-Net Reneilwe Sema said.
