Some people only watch TV to look for something to complain about
There are people who always find something to complain about, no matter what. These are people who will attend a wedding considered the wedding of the year, yet will still complain that the “food wasn’t great”.
Most people watch television to unwind. Sadly, some watch it to look for something to complain about. Snega Konyana, who complained about Tswana drama The Throne, could be one of them.
Someone once complained about Mr Mashaba in Generations, portrayed by Seputla Sebogodi. The Mashabas are supposed to be exclusively Tsonga so he was offended by Pedi-speaking Mashaba. That’s just pettiness.
News reader Augustine Chuene was axed because King Goodwill Zwelithini and other language purists complained about her pronunciation of certain Zulu words.
What worries me about that incident is the fact that there are people who do not speak proper Zulu because of their circumstances.
People in areas like Ngwavuma speak Zulu with a Swati influence. Some on the KZN south coast speak Zulu peppered with Xhosa because of its proximity to the Eastern Cape. To me, it sounds unfair to judge people on matters they can’t control.
To avoid watching something that makes me uncomfortable, I just change channels. It’s as simple as that. Richardson Mzaidume
