If jumps on terms, Final Attempt should win

Unfortunately the weather hasn’t been on our side over the last two days, forcing officials to abandon Monday’s Flamingo Park and yesterday’s Vaal race meeting – the main culprit being heavy rain showers. Hopefully the weather plays ball in KwaZulu-Natal so today’s Greyville card concludes without any glitches because there appears to be tons of value, and a worthy Pick 6 banker in the form of, Hey Jude, who contests Race 3, a FM Maiden Plate over 1400m on the Polytrack.

There is absolutely no better jockey to have on your Pick 6 banker than Anton “Superman” Marcus at the moment. The 48-year-old is riding like a man possessed and has built the highest win-strike rate in the country at 32.19%.

In fact, the last time we saw Marcus in action, he rode a hat-trick of winners and two seconds at Scottsville.

The Robbie and Shannon Hill-trained, Hey Jude, has done absolutely everything but win. Although she has become rather expensive to follow, the one positive is her record boasts three seconds and just as many thirds from 10 appearances. She is actually yet to run out of the money at this course.

Hey Jude is weighted to defeat this field easily, and jumps from an advantageous No 4 draw so a loss is unlikely. If the TAB All To Come route tickles your fancy, consider taking a win on Hey Jude, places on Final Attempt (Race 4), Collabro (Race 5) and lastly a win on Forthelastime in Race 8.

Dennis Bosch-trained Collabro is in exquisite form, and was the unluckiest of losers in his latest performance when beaten no more than 0.65 lengths into third place by Sea Urchin, who shouldered 1kg more on that occasion. That was a run full of merit if you consider that was the gelding’s first performance after a short stint off the racetrack.

Bosch’s charge should improve many lengths now that he’s had a run under the belt.

If reproducing anything close his penultimate showing when finishing the whisker margin of 0.05 lengths behind the highly rated, Q The Music, this five-yearold will have no trouble fending off main danger, Red Shift, when they renew rivalry in Race 5, a MR 76 Divided Handicap over his favoured trip of 1400m. Quartet players should float Red Shift and Collabro with Call Me Winter, Elusive Wolf, Euphoric, Burra Boy, Bravo Bravo and Archilles.

The jockey-trainer combination of Sean Veale and Drier have recorded 26 wins and 56 places this season. and should be in the winner’s enclosure with Forthelastime after Race 8.

He looks the progressive type and with 59kg to carry and an advantageous No 6 draw, should win.
