Rugby 5 a test for the experts

This week’s Rugby 5 pool features some real brain teasers.

Kicking off the pool is the clash between the Lions and the Bulls. Both teams are battling with consistency early in the season.

Two things count in the Lions’ favour: home field advantage and the fact that the Bulls had to travel back from Argentina.

Match 2 sees Racing 92 host La Rochelle in the French Top 14 series.

La Rochelle suffered their first home defeat last weekend while Racing have now lost their last three matches.

Both teams will be desperate to regain their form and when teams are desperate, results are difficult to predict.

In Match 3 Benetton Treviso square up against Edinburgh in the Pro 14. Treviso are on an eight-match unbeaten run and will be hard to beat.

The Sharks face the Stormers in Match 4.

The Sharks top the table in Super Rugby. The Stormers may have shown great resolve against the Lions, but being gutsy alone is not going to sustain them this season. They looked dire in attack and their only try came as a result of errors by the officials and a Lions mistake.

The Sharks have looked ruthless this season.

Finally the Jaguares host the Blues. The Jaguares’ forwards rumbled with intent against the Bulls. The Auckland side have lost two in a row and will be desperate to avoid their season imploding by round three.
