Minibus taxi drivers a road menace

-

Minibus taxi drivers are notorious for dangerous behaviour on SA’s roads.

Far too many taxi drivers drive on the opposite side of the road, with a full load of passengers, just to circumvent traffic.

The operators, being all about the money, have no care for their passengers and just want to fulfil a quota.

It is frightening to know that many drivers also drive with fake driver’s licences.

This is why police officers who are caught selling driver’s licences should face the full brunt of the law because by selling driver’s licences, they are indirectly responsible for endangering and causing the deaths of passengers.

Taxi and minibus drivers are lethal hooligans who continue to make life a living hell for our commuters, with few signs that the police will be able to do anything about them any time soon.

When the public calls on the government to provide government buses so that they can travel safely, it falls on deaf ears because the government leaders are unconcerned, uncaring and out of touch with the needs, feelings and suffering of passengers.

They don’t see the need because they don’t have to take public transport.

Now is the time to throw the book, handcuffs and tickets at all involved in risking the lives of people, if that is what it will take to create order from the disorder that exists on the nation’s streets. Mahmoud Rangila Isipingo Hills, Durban
