Bold Coast views a seaside victory

Go wide to survive tricky Pick 6 opener

- By Racing Editor

With a number of the races at the Fairview Polytrack today wide open affairs, Bold Coast in Race 5 seems to be the Pick 6 banker.

This six-year-old son of Bold Silvano is trained by Alan Greeff and will have Greg Cheyne in the saddle.

Bold Coast is a six-time winner from 36 races and finished 0.50 lengths behind Sir Frenchie over 1200m in his debut run for his new yard.

On that occasion Bold Coast was slow away, losing a length.

And with a plum No 1 draw over 1300m Cheyne is set for victory for owners Mr Kalil Zackey & Mrs LRA Zackey & Messrs Buddy Zackey & Jeff Zackey.

Bold Coast can therefore be regarded as a banker in all exotics.

He was previously trained by Cliffie Miller.

Another horse of note is the former Roy Magner charge Margot’s Magic, who comes to Port Elizabeth with decent

Gauteng form.

This three-year-old daughter of Indigo Magic will be in action in Race 6, the Aloe Handicap, a Non-Black-Type Handicap over 1300m.

She is a one-time winner from 11 starts with two seconds and two thirds to her credit.

In her last start at Turffontein on 12 November she finished second, 0.35 lengths behind True Charm with Warren Kennedy in the irons. Chase Maujean now takes over the reins for the Grant Paddock stable.

With early odds of 10-1 Margot’s Magic can be the value of the day.

Gina’s Girl, who will have Marco van Rensburg in the saddle for the Gavin Smith yard in Race 3, looks a strong candidate to win the first leg of the Pick 6, but also faces strong rivals like Ascending Heights, Coin Mistress and Fairyland.

The first leg of the Pick 6 in Port Elizabeth is more often than not a tricky one to survive and therefore punters who prefer to go wider can also consider Ample Glory, Salvadora, Lunchpack and Rumour Has It.

Racing starts at 12:40 with a Maiden Plate for all maidens over 1200m. Only eight runners will face the starter.

Strong frontrunner Le Warrior from the Yvette Bremner yard has a strong winning chance with Wayne Agrella up. To take a bet Go to www.tabonline.co.za or www.bettingworld.co.za
