Do it for dear SA, Amakhosi

-

No doubt tomorrow’s Champions League final is the biggest match for Kaizer Chiefs in its history.

Amakhosi have a date with destiny against defending champions Al Ahly in the African championship decider at Stade Mohamed V in the heart of the city of Casablanca in Morocco.

The SA Glamour Boys let’s call them that as they will represent the entire country in Morocco tomorrow go into this momentous tie as the underdogs but we have nothing but faith in our boys that they will come out of Casablanca unscathed.

They have already proved their resilience in the group stages where they faced strong opponents.

They were pitted against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, Horoya of Guinea and Pedro de Luanda of Angola in Group C where noone gave them a chance but Chiefs made their cynics eat humble pie by reaching the final in style.

They achieved this feat despite their disastrous domestic run. They deserve the plaudits for their impressive showing in the highly competitive Champions League as they had never reached the group stages of the tournament in their previous attempts.

This should be enough motivation for Chiefs going into tomorrow’s match. Our optimism is also based on the self-belief shown by Chiefs’ players in the build-up to the final.

Al Ahly will be vying for a 10th Champions League title tomorrow but their record in the competition does not appear to intimidate Chiefs and this is the right mentality. It has been proven that records sometimes count for nothing.

No doubt that Chiefs’ success will go a long way to not only make their supporters happy, but inspire other PSL clubs. When Mamelodi Sundowns clinched the Champions League trophy in 2016, and before that Orlando Pirates in 1995, the nation rejoiced astheir triumphs also inspired others.

Downs proved to other Premier Soccer League clubs that anything is possible in this ful game and it’s Chiefs’ time to prove that again.

Support for Chiefs should not only come from soccer followers but also from other sports bodies.

We say to the boys, go out there and bring the trophy back home.

We know what you can do in Morocco do it for the country!
