DE Beers Consolidated Mines has appointed Nompumelelo Zikalala to its board. She joined De Beers in 1996 as a bursar and in 2007 was appointed general manager of the Kimberley mine, becoming the first female GM of a major diamond mine. In May 2013, she became vice-president of De Beers Sightholder Sales South Africa, the rough diamond trading division.
GROUPON has appointed Emilian Popa its new country manager for South Africa. He has held leadership roles at Twangoo, Rocket Internet, Africa Internet Accelerator, Zando, 5rooms, Wimdu, Airizu China, DealHayom Israel and Lamoda.
He has MBAs from Columbia Business School and London Business School and more than 10 years of consulting experience.
The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (Prisa) has appointed Lorraine van Schalkwyk president and Ingrid Lotze vice-president. Van Schalkwyk takes over from Lungile Lose.
Van Schalkwyk has experience in communication and stakeholder interaction, including corporate and crisis communication, issue management, media relations, internal and change communication, investor relations, marketing and advertising.
Lotze has experience in public relations, marketing and social media.
She holds a postgraduate diploma in business administration, a BCom (Hons) and an MSc in international marketing.
DANICA Bloomberg has been appointed MD of Adventure Boot Camp, an outdoor fitness programme for women.
She has been marketing manager of the brand for the past five years.
She has a BCom from the University of Stellenbosch and a postgraduate qualification in marketing and advertising communications from the Red and Yellow School in Cape Town, and has 10 years’ experience at various advertising agencies.
