All the help couples need to make their big day a success
COUPLES who are planning to tie the knot later this year can look forward to a wealth of useful advice and guidance at this year’s 15th annual Sunday Times Eastern Bridal Fair.
That is the word from fair convener Sudhir Pragjee.
The fair will take place from September 5 to 7.
“To mark the fair’s 15th year, we’re planning a bumper offering. About 10 000 people attend the event at the Durban Exhibition Centre annually,” said Pragjee.
The fair will feature fashion, dance and more than 100 stalls focusing on jewellery, hair, makeup, wedding planning, décor specialists, photographers, tour opera- tors and caterers.
Exhibitors and advertisers are invited to participate in the event.
The highlight of the fair will be a fashion and dance extravaganza that will be performed more than 10 times over the weekend.
Pragjee said about 100 performers would be under the instruction of popular choreographers and producers from India.
Asha Maharaj, Sunday Times Extra Eastern food expert, will give demonstrations and share recipes at the Sunday Times stand.
Other events will feature local and international film and TV stars.
In previous years, top fashhion designers such as Vikram Phadnis and Varun Bahl have attended.
Pragjee said the names of the invited designers and Indian television artists would be announced next month.
The entrance fee to the fair will be R70 a person and reserved seats for the fashion show will be R90.
All people attending the fair will also receive a free specially printed 200-page glossy magazine containing articles on marriage, health, makeup, wedding planning and relationships.
Mary Papayya, publisher of the Sunday Times Extra, said everyone involved could look forward to another colourful extravaganza.
All the money raised from the fair will go to a worthy cause, making it “more heartening” for both organisers and spectators, she said.
