Mohenjo-Daro . Supermodel Pooja Hegde will make her debut opposite Roshan. Gowariker has also made classics such as Lagaan and Swades .
Khans on the slate
After their last blockbuster,
Bodyguard, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor are set to do a movie together titled Bajrangi
Bhaijaan.
It is made by the highly acclaimed Kabir Khan, who last directed Salman in another blockbuster — Ek Tha Tiger. Kabir is currently working with Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif on the terrorist flick Daniyaal Khan.

Araiyil entering its second week, this weekend saw the release in South Africa and worldwide of Dhanush’s 25th film, Velai Illaa
Pattathaari . Expectations of the film were high after the release of the audio and the trailer, but peaked with the announcement last week that Dhanush had won the coveted Filmfare best actor award for his role in Mariyaan.
Tamil film fans are in for a treat in the second half of the year with many Tamil films being readied for release on the South African big screen.
Taking on pirates
Vishal turned real-life hero when he directly confronted a small cable TV network in the town of Karaikudi for illegally screening Un Samaiyil Araiyil.
Vishal had been nursing a fractured right wrist after an injury during the shooting of a stunt sequence for his latest film, Poojai, directed by Hari.
When he saw the flighting of the film, he immediately summoned the police and accompanied them to the home of the cable TV operator and ensured that a docket be opened at the local police station. Another cable operator in the same town had screened the recently released Vadacurry.
A video recording of the proceedings has since gone viral.
In the recording, Vishal angrily asks the operator: “If somebody comes into your house and steals your belongings, will you stand by and watch them quietly?”
Copyright theft is still theft and a day later the controversial T Rajender spoke at an audio launch and lamented the fact that the Tamil Nadu government had failed in the fight against piracy — even though neighbouring states had succeeded in stemming the problem.
Star for debut director
Vishnu Vishal, still basking in the runaway success of
Mundasupatti , has bagged a lead role in a film that will be produced by CV Kumar and Gnanavel Raja.
It will mark the directorial debut of Ravi, a former assistant to Nalan Kumarasamy.
The rest of the cast and crew will be announced later this month and filming will begin in August.
Karate kick
Against the predictions of many film critics, Sivakarthigeyan’s
Maan Karate crossed its 100th day on circuit last week. The movie was produced by AR Murugadhaas (director of
Ghajini and Thuppakki), who also penned the story. Buoyed by the hit soundtrack of Anirudh Ravichander, the movie has become the fourth-highestgrossing Tamil film for the year.
Sound beginning
The eagerly awaited audio launch of Surya’s Anjaan will take place on Tuesday. Expectations are huge for this film after the trailer drew two million views within a few days — and the number is still steadily increasing. Yuvanshankar Raja has scored the music.
