INTERNATIONAL engineering consulting company Royal HaskoningDHV has appointed Salani Sithole MD of its South African operations.
Sithole has been with the company for six years, and before that held various positions in a range of fields, including engineering consulting, and at Eskom, the City of Johannesburg and Transnet. He is vice-chairman of the Southern African Netherlands Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the transport liaison committee of the Consulting Engineers South Africa.
INTERCONTINENTAL Hotels Group has appointed Sandi Macfie to the new role of director: hotel performance support for Africa. She will lead the operations and performance of the group’s 17 franchised hotels in six African countries.
Macfie joins IHG with 30 years’ experience across the hospitality, finance and technology industries.
She was most recently group director of revenue at Tsogo Sun Hotels, during which time her background in information technology also stood her in good stead as chairwoman of the South African Hospitality Technology Forum.
ACCOUNTING firm BDO South Africa has appointed Bronwyn Lovell managing partner of its Durban office. She replaces former managing partner Mark Stewart.
Lovell began her articles with the mid-level firm in 2001 and was appointed junior manager on qualification and senior manager in 2005.
Lovell said: “It’s my responsibility to represent the views of my partners and office as a collective, ensuring that we all strive towards achieving our national and global strategy, and that we continue to be an employer of choice and attract top-level talent.”
ATMOSPHERE Communications has appointed Lauren Volmink a director.
Volmink, who joined the public relations consultancy nine years ago, manages some of its financial services clients.
She has a national diploma in public relations management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and has also completed courses in strategy and internet marketing through the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.
She is a member of the Public Relations Institute of South Africa, consultants chapter.
