MAXAXION has appointed Mike Carter special projects director. He was previously involved in forming an integral business developmen­t role for Mxit. He joined the company in 2008 as senior account manager before being appointed new business director.

He was most recently commercial director at ChargeAds.

Carter said: “This very exciting position will be pulling on all my previous knowledge, which will be underpinne­d by the support of a highly experience­d team.” MEDIAMARK, the media sales house jointly owned by media group Kagiso Media and French media group Lagardère, has promoted Cindy Diamond to group sales director.

Mediamark MD Talib Sadik said: “As a growing converged media sales house, Mediamark needs an integrated sales propositio­n that spans radio, digital, events, TV and other channels. We can think of no one better to lead our sales operations than Cindy, who has a thorough knowledge of the industry, the brands Mediamark represents and great relationsh­ips with advertisin­g agencies and their clients.” CISCO has appointed Cathy Smith general manager for the company’s business operations in South Africa.

Smith has a 25-year record of advising private and public sector organisati­ons on IT strategies that connect everything, embrace analytics and secure their technology and operations.

She is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative, an organisati­on set up to develop the next generation of values-based African leaders.

Before joining Cisco, Smith was with IBM for more than 23 years, where she held various leadership roles. DANNY Ross has been appointed the executive head for Africa at Jasco Enterprise. He is based in the company’s new Kenyan office.

He previously worked in the South African Air Force and qualified as a radio technician with a national certificat­e in electronic­s.

He worked at Spescom after leaving the air force in 1997 and held various roles in operations and sales.

The new office will help to cement Jasco’s position in the East African market, expanding the group’s geographic footprint and providing more effective customer service.
