DR XOLANI Mkhwanazi has been appointed chairman of Odgers Berndtson sub-Saharan Africa.
Until the recent demerger by BHP Billiton, Mkhwanazi was also chairman of BHP Billiton and BHP Billiton Energy Coal. He was appointed chairman of BHP Billiton in 2008.
He has joined the board of the demerged South32 and will contribute to the development and sustainability of Odgers Berndtson sub-Saharan Africa, a global executive-search firm with more than 200 partners worldwide.
AFTER being without a permanent leader for more than five years, the Pan South African Language Board has appointed Dr Rakwena Reginald Mpho Monareng as its new CEO.
Monareng has been the head of the language unit at the University of Johannesburg since its inception in 2008.
He was also involved in the Higher Education South Africa transformation task team and the parliamentary constitutional review committee.
Monareng’s qualifications include an MPhil in applied language and literature studies.
SABMiller will appoint Domenic De Lorenzo as executive director and chief financial officer after the AGM on July 23.
De Lorenzo, director of group strategy and corporate development and a member of the group’s executive committee, has been acting chief financial officer since February 19.
In August 2014, he assumed responsibility for group strategy alongside his previous responsibilities as director of corporate finance and development.
He is a chartered accountant by training.
ROYAL Philips, the lighting company, has appointed Reggie Nxumalo head of its Southern African lighting operations.
Nxumalo joins Philips from Nhloko Services Business Consulting, where he was CEO. He has broad global brand experience, having worked at multinationals such as Dell, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Coca-Cola and 3M.
“Reggie’s proven track record . . . [shows] he has the right skill sets to further drive our solution and consumer-based market approach,” said Thierry Boulanger, the general manager and vice-president of Philips Lighting Africa.
