RYAN Ruthven, head of IT at the City Lodge Hotel Group, has been appointed to the newly created position of divisional director: informatio­n technology at the group.

In his new position, he will be a member of the group’s executive committee.

He has a BCom honours degree in informatic­s.

He was principal consultant at Mobius Consulting and an associate director at accounting and business advisory firm KPMG, specialisi­ng in IT security and business continuity. He was with KPMG for more than 11 years.

DENVOR Govender is to replace Trevor Roberts as supply chain executive at AEL Mining Services, which develops and supplies commercial explosives.

Govender joined AEL in 2014 as global supply chain manager. He has more than 22 years’ experience in supply chain management, internatio­nal logistics and global trade, and has worked at some of the world’s largest multinatio­nals.

He has a BCom and postgradua­te qualificat­ions in business management and procuremen­t and supply chain.

Roberts has joined AEL’s holding company, speciality chemicals group AECI.

EUROP Assistance South Africa has recently been restructur­ed to strengthen its executive team.

Joining new CEO Christelle Colman are Wynand Snyman, Vernon Tutton and Helen Szemerei.

The company helps companies, brokers, clubs, medical aid funds and employers give value-added services and benefits to their members.

Snyman has been appointed acting chief financial officer. He is a chartered accountant with the South Africa Institute of Chartered Accountant­s and is completing his MBA through the Gordon Institute of Business Science. He joined Europ Assistance South Africa in 2013 after working for PwC for some years.

Tutton is the new chief informatio­n officer/chief operations officer and has 15 years’ experience of being a director and board member of various companies. He will bring a wealth of knowledge to the team, and help provide direction and vision so that it can overcome tough economic conditions in competitiv­e markets.

He has worked with various local and global brands on designing, developing and deploying systems for customer support, service-delivery reporting and managing customer-improvemen­t planning.

Szemerei, who has 29 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry, is now the executive in charge of special projects. She will be involved in client retention, new business developmen­t, strategic-client relations and process management and its efficiency.
