Queen seeks scrubber who is willing to travel
IN SERVICE: Queen Elizabeth hosts state dinners in Buckingham Palace’s Blue Drawing Room FANCY living with Queen Elizabeth? Buckingham Palace is looking for a live-in pot washer, who would be paid £17 000 (R322 000) a year to wash the royal plates.
As well as the salary, you get 33 days’ holiday and a pension plan, plus a room in the palace grounds. All meals are also included. The job advertisement states: “It’s the collaboration and the community spirit. And it’s helping to deliver extraordinary service in incredible surroundings. This is what makes working for the Royal Household so different.
“You’ll join a close-knit and committed catering team who prepare and serve food to the very highest standards.
“You’ll assist the team by maintaining the wash-up environment, ensuring our chefs have all they need to deliver hundreds of staff meals every day.
“You’ll clean equipment and utensils ready for use on a daily basis, as well as assisting with food preparation.
“And whether you’re based in Buckingham Palace or, when required, travelling to another royal residence, you’ll embrace this challenge and the many others that come your way.”
The successful applicant doesn't even need any experience.
The Buckingham Palace website states that “it’s who you are that we are really interested in” to help deliver extraordinary service in incredible surroundings” — a “natural team player” with initiative.
If you get the job, you will travel around the UK as the queen requires.
