WEBBER Wentzel has hired Kim Rew as a partner in its dispute resolution practice in the law firm’s Cape Town office.
She joins Webber Wentzel from Norton Rose Fulbright, where she was a director in the dispute resolution practice since 2003, specialising in insurance and commercial litigation, with a focus on liability-related matters.
Rew has a BCom LLB, a master’s degree in commercial law, an honours degree in tax and a diploma in international trade law.
“We are delighted to have Kim on board to complement and reinforce our team of dispute resolution experts,” said Christo Els, senior partner of Webber Wentzel.
FINANCIAL management company Carrick has appointed Samantha Taylor-Bowen group director of training and development. She is the first woman appointed to the board and will sit on the board of the South African and international companies.
In her new role, she will focus on developing, implementing and monitoring training programmes within the organisation; mentoring new and existing associates in skills development and assisting with the development of strategic training for the group.
Taylor-Bowen joined Carrick at its inception in 2014 and assumed a management role in Cape Town. Before that, she was a senior financial adviser and manager for a large international brokerage.
SPILL Tech, South Africa’s first black-owned hazardous materials response service provider, has made some executive appointments. Tshego Sefolo has been appointed chairman, and Londeka Shezi has been appointed a director.
Sefolo qualified as a chartered accountant. He has both local and international experience. He has a BCom and an MBA. Shezi has a BCom honours degree and also qualified as a chartered accountant.
She spent some time in the leverage and acquisitions team at Standard Bank as an analyst and junior transactor and gained invaluable experience in debt advisory.
Spill Tech has a growing national footprint and service offering, which includes oil, chemical and marine hazardous spill response, industrial cleaning and bioremediation and waste management and disposal.
