Depending on your taste in comedy, you might not find the work of Mathilde O’Callaghan Notaro particularly funny, and most of the praise for her work seems to focus more on her ability to get on stage and make light of the string of personal tragedies in her life, including a struggle with cancer. She’s not as crude as other comics, but occasionally uses quite dark and fatalistic themes. As her stage name, she uses the nickname “Tig”, which she acquired when she was a kid. Apparently, she also used to be in a band.
