Yellow metal monsters get their day on the block

-

A WIDE selection of yellow metal equipment valued at more than R70-million will be auctioned by MCC Plant on Thursday.

The auction follows a full review of plant equipment by MCC, in line with a strategic move to realign its portfolio and the core outlook of the business in bold steps.

In mid-2016, it was confirmed that enX Group had acquired Eqstra Holdings’ industrial equipment and fleet management divisions. The aim was to facilitate recapitalisation of Eqstra’s contract mining division and MCC, a division of Eqstra Holdings.

In the current mining environment, where being nimble and lean is key to medium- and longterm growth and sustainability, MCC has reviewed its plant and decided to dispose of noncore or surplus yellow metal.

With this strategic move by management, the company has committed more than R70-million of prime CAT, Liebherr, Terex and Komatsu equipment to an online auction with a leading player in the sector, Clear Asset.

The stock will be up for sale on March 30, closing at 3pm. It includes an extensive array of Dozers (D11T), Excavators (PC 400-7, PC600-6), ADT’s, Graders (16H), Drill Rigs (Sandvik), Shovels (Liebherr R864), New Holland Telescopic Forklifts and Rock Trucks (785D/ 769C/ D’s and 773E).

Says Ariella Kuper, managing director of online auctioneers Clear Asset: “With an upturn evident in new projects across Africa, Australia, Canada and South America, combined with commodity prices gaining traction and a new strength of sentiment witnessed post the Mining Indaba, the timing of this auction is ideal.

“MCC are credible sellers of redundant and surplus stock through their clean-up effort, which in turn offers prime secondhand OEM equipment to small, medium and larger players across this sector.

“A turnkey solution of credible information and salient comments on condition combined with estimates on transport and shipping, offers foreign buyers a level of comfort that encourages their participation in a sale of this nature,” Kuper concludes .
