LAW firm Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr is to get two new directors: Timothy Baker and Vania Munro. Baker will be in the dispute resolution practice in Cape Town and Munro joins the technology and sourcing section.
Baker has experience in construction, infrastructure and energy disputes, locally and in Africa. He also practised as a solicitor in the UK.
“As more businesses . . . transact across multiple jurisdictions, the disputes we handle become ever more complex. Timothy’s skills bring a further dimension to the specialist knowledge we offer,” said Grant Ford of the dispute resolution section.
Munro has experience in information technology agreements and procurement, including software development, licensing, cloud infrastructure and storage, websites, maintenance and support, professional services/ consulting.
She also has experience in retail banking payment systems and products, and IT innovation projects. PROFESSIONAL IT services consultancy Aves Cyber Security has appointed Cecil Munsamy MD. He has 29 years’ experience in the IT industry — 19 years in application development and infrastructure, and 10 years in IT management at chief information officer level, together with governance, risk and compliance.
At Aves Cyber Security, he heads a team of experts specialising in assessments, road-map preparation, remediation, implementation, audits and incident management.
Munsamy has strong business-focus and resource-management capability. He has a higher diploma in computer systems, along with other qualifications. He is a member of the Institute of Directors Southern Africa, as well as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the body for IT governance. PHATHUTSHEDZO Tshivhengwa is to join services, trading, and distribution company Bidvest as group corporate finance executive, while Ilze Roux has been appointed group corporate affairs executive.
Tshivhengwa comes from Barclays, where he worked in Johannesburg and London as director: Africa mergers and acquisitions.
He has a BSc (honours) in computer science from the University of Cape Town, a master’s in information technology from the University of Pretoria and an MBA from INSEAD.
Roux, a chartered accountant, is from wealth management firm Merrill Lynch, where she has been an equity analyst since 2003. She has been consistently top-rated by local and international surveys in various industrial and consumer sectors.
She started her global markets career as a small-cap industrial analyst in 2000. She has a BCom (honours) in accounting and a certificate in the theory of accounting from Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg).
