Heavy vehicles under hammer
Results from a successful March auction indicate a stable demand for good-quality, secondhand heavy commercial vehicles as businesses turn to auctions seeking value for money.
That’s the news from Park Village Auction’s LeRoy Augustyn, who reports that last month’s auction fetched above-average prices for commercial workhorses. Says Augustyn: “Buyers are clearly preparing for hard times ahead. This was evident in the fierce competition for the Volvo, Freightliner truck tractors and Henred Fruehauf Side Tipper trailers.”
Augustyn predicts that PVA’s upcoming truck and trailer auction, set to take place on Thursday April 20, will once again attract a crowd of discerning buyers from across the spectrum.
Commencing at 10.30am, the auction will showcase a number of top-quality trucks, tractors, trailers, yellow metal and farming equipment.
First up on the block will be a collection of rigid trucks and truck tractors from manufacturers such as Freightliner, Hino, International, Isuzu, Iveco, various MAN TGA and TGS models, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Fuso, Nissan, Scania, Tata, Toyota Dyna and Volvo.
Trailers and earthmoving equipment to be auctioned include a large fleet of flat-deck link trailers, SA Truck Bodies, Henred Fruehauf, Afrit and Motor Trail flat deck, side tippers, Tautliner trailers, skidsteer loaders, excavators and backhoe loaders.
Augustyn adds: “In the wake of our recent credit downgrade which will . . . affect fuel and new-vehicle prices, value for money is paramount. Buyers can bid safe in the knowledge all of PVA’s trucks . . . stem from bank repossessions and genuine liquidation matters.” The auction will take place at PVA’s truck yard at Nasrec on Randshow Road in Johannesburg South. Viewing will take place the day before from 10am to 4pm.
