Accountancy body should look at Choma
THE report about Eskom tenders amounting to R2-billion being given to Impulse International, where Eskom acting CEO Matshela Koko’s stepdaughter, Koketso Choma, was a director — “How Impulse ‘bailed ANC for birthday bash’ ” (April 23) — got me thinking.
Choma is a chartered accountant, and therefore a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. I wonder if the institute will investigate her membership because, if the allegations are proved correct, this is a case of corruption. Will Choma therefore have brought the profession into disrepute?
I’m a CA myself, so it is worrying that one of our own might be accumulating wealth through corruption.
I wish to hear Saica’s view. — Ayanda Mafuleka, Meyerton
