Bumbling butterfingers, subtweets et al

-

WHEN it comes to Blunderiology, nobody can beat the Orlando Pirates goalkeepers. Siyabonga Mpontshane was the latest to enter his name into Blunders Digest and took the goalkeepers’ uncanny ability to help the ball into the net, instead of preventing the pigskin from going into a higher level when he gifted Baroka FC a goal on Wednesday night. With their silky schoolboy errors, this lot will win the Butterfingers award hands down if such an accolade existed.

"I am told the final minute has not been good for Steve Komphela supporters this week. First they snatched a defeat from the jaws of a respectable draw against a side that is still enjoying Muhsin Ertugral’s superior organising skills. Then they witnessed their lowly placed rivals, a bunch of perennial underachievers, winning a draw in the final minute against an amateur side that accidentally made it to the PSL this season due to lack of focus by the likes of Thanda Royal.Zulu." — Tsamaya’s subtweet of the season.

BAROKA co-coach Milton Dlamini was clearly a board game aficionado when growing up.Snakes and Ladders was top of the pops judging by his observation. With only six points separating 16th-placed Baroka and ninth-placed Pirates before their Tuesday clash, Dlamini opined:“Remember my words, there will be snakes and ladders in the league, the same game we played when growing up. This league will take you from whatever number that I won't mention to down, out and gone. No playoffs!!!. Dead and buried!” Looking at the log table, if the league table were a snake, Baroka would be bottom of the ladder!

BAROKA FC have played a coaches musical chairs so many times, it's difficult to know who's who in the zoo. Pirates media officer Thandi Merafe found herself stuck in moving traffic when she confused Baroka cocoach Dlamini for his colleague, the silver-tongued midday stargazer Kgoloko Thobejane. Clearly relieved after her club's great escape against the Limpopo basement dwellers on Wednesday night, Merafe consistently referred to one as the other, even though Dlamini took the gaffe with good grace. Only because it would serve as his only memory for being in the PSL.
