The Speaker misspoke

THE National Assembly Speaker seems to have finally accepted that she is not the next occupant of Mahlamba Ndlopfu. No 1, who apparently promised her the job, has changed his mind and wants it to go to The Doctor, Mother Africa Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

But judging by her Freudian slip in parliament on Thursday, Mam’ Baleka doesn’t believe that Dlamini-Zuma is getting the job either. She referred to Dlamini-Zuma’s main rival for the job, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, as “the honourable Mr President”.

But the Buffalo Soldier shouldn’t be chuffed. He should be mindful that the last cabinet member to be referred to as “president” was Pravin Gordhan. And look what No 1 did to him.
