Cancel oil contracts

WHEN the suspicious sale of strategic oil came to light last year, I warned against it, but with former energy minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson at the helm it was probably just another mad idea.

It seems the new minister of energy has different ideas, though, and the correct thing to do would be to cancel the contracts and face the penalties, which is probably cheaper than buying new reserves at current prices. — Peter Smulik, Cape Town
