An imposter and a poser

-

BULLS coach Nollis Marais has had a lot to apologise for this week. He surprised the media at the start of the Bulls’ team announcement with a bizarre apology this week. “I just need to make clear I don't have a Twitter account, a Facebook account and I'm not on Instagram, so the bloke who is acting as if he’s Nollis Marais on Facebook isn’t me,” he said. “People who have heard me speak English and know how I write English will know that isn’t me. I want to say to the people of the Bulls who are getting upset about what is being written, it’s not me.”

THE media conference later took another interesting turn. Former Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer breezed by and Marais heartily greeted his former mentor. Meyer’s response was sharp: “I'm feeling better than you, Nollis, much better.”

WHEN an ex-colleague said he was leaving Joburg for the rural Eastern Cape, Tightheads was extremely envious. Instead, however, Chumani Bambani took up the job of media manager at the Kings and he seems to be revelling in it. This week he posed for a back page picture in PE Herald urging fans to attend yesterday’s clash against the Sharks. His delight was quite apparent on Twitter: “I have written many back-page leads for this and other newspapers over the years, and never imagined that I would ever be the subject of one. Today is that day. I think ndim clockile ulife ngoku. Let’s fill the stadium.”

CLEARLY Bambani is a man of many talents and we see no reason why he should not become the team’s new mascot. It can go by the name ’Dumbo’ or ’Bambi’.
