THE LAPTOP BAN IS CRAZY
“Bring a book.” That’s how Bloomberg News starts an article this week on fears that the US government may extend the security ban on laptops, tablets, cameras and other larger-than-your-smartphone electronic devices being carried in the cabin of international flights bound for the US from Europe. Currently such devices are banned on flights from 10 Middle Eastern airports. Still, some analysts are sceptical that such a ban would last longer than a week due to what one observer succinctly referred to as “blowback”.
