LAW firm Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr has appointed Christoff Pienaar the national practice head for the firm’s technology and sourcing practice, and Mmatiki Aphiri a director in the mining and minerals sector in the corporate and commercial practice.
Pienaar joined the firm in 2015 and has earned his reputation both locally and abroad for his advice on technology transactions, specialising in information technology, intellectual property and commercial matters.
He is qualified to practice in South Africa as well as in England and Wales.
Aphiri joined Mervyn Taback Inc as a candidate attorney in 2006 and was appointed a director there in 2010. From providing advice on the implications of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act to BEE legislation, she has experience in securing new applications for mineral rights, permits and permissions; due diligence investigations; and the conversion of rights. INDIRECT-tax specialist Anne Jenkinson has joined law firm ENSafrica’s tax department in Johannesburg as an executive.
Jenkinson has 37 years’ experience and has provided consulting and regulatory advice to prominent clients in a range of industries, including banking and financial services, telecommunications, mining, construction and pharmaceuticals.
She also has extensive crossborder and international VAT experience.
Before joining ENSafrica, Jenkinson was a senior VAT partner and head of indirect tax for financial services at a large multinational professional services firm.
She was also a senior VAT specialist at the South African Revenue Service for more than 10 years, and served in the same position for the UK’s revenue authority. PRIVATE education company Curro Holdings has made some senior appointments: Arthee Rajkumar is the new regional head, and André Pollard has become the group curriculum manager.
Rajkumar has a wealth of global experience in education, having worked in management in the Middle Eastern division of Taaleem-EdisonLearning, an international education brand.
She will now help with the implementation of approved plans and policies at allocated schools, and will develop, promote and preserve Curro’s educational and business interests, reputation and goodwill.
Rajkumar has a master’s degree in education.
Pollard has been with Curro Holdings for 10 years, and managed the primary-school curriculum.
In his new post he will be responsible for curriculum strategy and implementation across the group’s five school brands.
He has a teacher’s diploma, a health and physical education qualification and a BA from Unisa.
