Modjaji Books have sold rights to Michelle Hattingh’s brave, powerful, lucid memoir, I’m
the Girl Who Was Raped, to Inanna in Canada and Spinifex in Australia — who have bought world English rights (apart from North America and Africa). I’m the Girl Who Was Raped, which was published last year, is a brave book — Hattingh had the courage to come forward and tell her story about being raped and what happened to her afterwards, how she dealt with it, how she felt, how she started to heal.
Her story is a no-holds-barred one, and her insight and writing is disrupting conventions and taken-for-granted views about rape.
Hattingh went to school in Port Elizabeth and studied at Stellenbosch University and the University of Cape Town.
