Clever move by Wits

Local soccer fans will get the turnstiles clicking this coming season after PSL champions Wits announced that they had signed up Steven Pienaar.

The boy from Westbury, Johannesburg, made a name for himself with several top overseas teams, among them Everton, Spurs and Borussia Dortmund.

At the relatively advanced age of 35, Pienaar has done his bit overseas. Wits’ coup in landing him is a stroke of genius from the Clever Boys, considering that Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates were said to be interested.
