Nicholas Spyratos is not quite Jim Carrey, but he’s trying. The Cape Town movie buff dressed up as the main character from The Mask, the superhero fantasy comedy of 1994 that starred the rubber-faced Carrey. Spyratos was among many contestants who dressed as their favourite characters from the movies, TV or comics. Other costumes included Wonder Woman, Obelix and Asterix, and Princess Leia of Star Wars. Those who didn’t want to dress up could just be spectators at the Electronic and Gaming Expo held this weekend at the Cape Town Convention Centre. The expo is a geek paradise, bringing together computer games, toys and technology, software and a lot more under one roof. It opened on Friday and ends today.
