Timol finding due
Forty-six years after anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Timol fell to his death from the 10th floor of John Vorster Square, his family will finally find out how he died.
Dissatisfied with the 1972 ruling that he had committed suicide, they campaigned for a new inquest, which began in July at the High Court in Johannesburg.
Timol lawyer Howard Varney hopes Judge Billy Mothle’s finding, to be delivered on Wednesday, will help to redress the government’s “abandonment” of the families of apartheid-era atrocity victims.
