Lights! Camera! Action!
● On Thursday night the Cape Town International Film Market and Festival rolled out the red carpet at the V&A Waterfront for this year’s coastal celluloid hobnob.
And although there was no sighting of Sharlto Copley, the local lad doing well in Hollywood who had been expected to attend, a range of other luminaries turned up for the opening, which marked the screening of An Act of Defiance: The Bram Fischer Story.
Guests included Pearl Thusi — who has bounced back after being dropped from US series Quantico to snare a role in the upcoming film Blue Mauritius — and presenter Jeannie D, in a feathered number by Cape Town label KLûK CGDT. Also present were Rivonia triallist Andrew Mlangeni and fellow struggle veteran Albie Sachs.
