Senegal checks out SA
President Jacob Zuma will host Senegal’s President Macky Sall for a state visit this week. Senegal, which gained independence from France in 1960, is widely regarded as one of the most stable and successful democracies in Africa, having handled the transition from colonialism exceptionally well. It has a high profile in many global organisations and was a member of the UN Security Council in 1988-89 and 2015-16.
Friendly to the West, Senegal supports the granting of more help to developing nations by developed countries.
