The term “Mantashing” — meaning to change your mind abruptly — became part of South Africa’s political vocabulary after President Jacob Zuma’s controversial cabinet reshuffle in March. This is thanks to Gwede Mantashe doing a U-turn on Zuma’s continued leadership of the country and the ANC despite having publicly denounced the president’s cabinet changes.
