World’s most expensive art to Abu Dhabi

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is getting Leonardo Da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi, which sold last month at a Christie’s auction for $450-million (R6.1-billion), the most yet paid for a work of art.

The New York Times reported this week that Saudi Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan al-Saud was the buyer. The seller was Russian billionair­e Dmitry Rybolovlev, who purchased it for $127.5-million in 2013.
