Editor of ’exclusives’ may know

-

Fishers of book sources, like Sunday Independent editor Steve Motale, who — when not looking for Jacques Pauw’s sources under every stone — hangs out with McKenzie and his ex-jailmate Kenny Kunene, would have little trouble finding out who assisted McKenzie in writing the book. Mahlobo features prominently, making Hogarth wonder if spooks boss Arthur Fraser could soon be writing to the minister asking him to shush it, as he did with Ronnie Kasrils. There is also Duduzile, the twin sister to Duduzane — the Chosen Son. And then there is stuff in the book that, if it happened at all, only No 1 would have known. But Hogarth is not prepared to say that the head of state is an Mzekezeke source. Maybe Motale can help us with one of his “exclusive exposé” specials.
