Angola puts foot down on offshore cash
President João Lourenço has told Angolans to repatriate funds illegally held abroad or risk prosecution, in a bid to spur domestic investment and combat corruption.
The move suggests he intends to try to draw a line under years of endemic corruption and impunity.
Central bank governor José Massano said at least $30-billion (R405-billion) of Angolan money was held abroad, including legal and illegal deposits.
