Switzerland is so big on animal rights that it has some rather interesting rules to protect their emotional wellbeing. Dog owners, for example, must take a course on caring for their pets and anglers are required to take a course on humane fishing. They also want happy guinea pigs. These highly social creatures are said to be capable of dying of loneliness, so it’s not actually legal to keep just one.
