DD duped us, say Zuma supporters
Supporters of President Jacob Zuma have conceded to being outmanoeuvred by ANC deputy president David Mabuza.
Zuma supporters told the Sunday Times that they and their preferred candidate, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, were duped by Mabuza in the ANC elections.
They claim that the day before the elections, Mabuza had promised Zuma that he had secured the 2 500 votes to ensure a Dlamini-Zuma victory. But only Mabuza got that many votes.
Apart from the leadership battles, the ANC conference also agreed on land reform after years of delay. Delegates resolved to amend the constitution to allow expropriation without compensation.
Expropriation should not, however, put food security and the agricultural sector at the risk of collapse.
