What about violence against men?

-

Last year in May I lost my best friend and cousin, Solomon Nkomo. He was murdered in cold blood in Cape Town’s Joe Slovo settlement.

The case was reported at the Milnerton police station. When we arrived there, there were piles and piles of dockets on the tables. When I saw these piles I realised that these are unfinished tasks. Some of them were faded, signifying their age.

I wish to inform ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa that I am not the only one experiencing this pain.

Week in, week out, people are dying in the location and few of these cases reach the media. I would advise you to follow on a weekly basis the number of people kept in the forensic mortuary.

There is an initiative of 16 days of activism for women and children, but have you also taken note of the men killed every week? We should say 16 days of activism against violence.

Also, we should deploy special forces who are intensively trained to understand the rights of communities and whose duty is to fight crime in ekasi.

Mr Ramaphosa, be remembered as a person who helped remove the culture of violence from this country and who motivated the police to do their work diligently.
