‘Black Beach nearly killed me’

Daniel Janse van Rensburg says his stay in Black Beach reduced his life expectancy. “I contracted typhoid fever. On four occasions I got malaria . . . I managed to get some medication from other inmates, via outsiders. Without it, I would have died . . . I have suffered irreversible damage to my liver and kidneys.”
